New Releases

It’s a short list of new releases today, but oh, it’s quality:

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

We’ve been loving this book around here. The advance copy has been a hot item among staff. Thankfully, the book goes on sale today, so there’s finally plenty for everyone.  Here’s the publisher’s blurb: At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, READY PLAYER ONE is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

And you can read Kester’s review of the book, which is also our Top Shelf pick this month, HERE.

And of course we’re psyched for our big 80’s Night Release Party with Ernie next Tuesday, August 23, 7p.

Ataturk by Austin Bay

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a Muslim visionary, revolutionary statesman, and founder of the Republic of Turkey. The West knows him best as the leading Ottoman officer in World War I’s Battle of Gallipoli. Gaining fame as an exemplary military officer, he went on to lead his people in the Turkish War of Independence, abolishing the Ottoman Sultanate, emancipating women, and adopting western dress.

Join us tonight at 7p when Austin Bay is here for the Ataturk Release Party!

The Submission by Amy Waldman

A jury gathers in Manhattan to select a memorial for the victims of a devastating terrorist attack. Their fraught deliberations complete, the jurors open the envelope containing the anonymous winner’s name—and discover he is an American Muslim. Instantly they are cast into roiling debate about the claims of grief, the ambiguities of art, and the meaning of Islam. A striking portrait of a fractured city striving to make itself whole, The Submission is a piercing and resonant novel by an important new talent.
