Here at BookPeople we are some of the undisputed champions of the weird. Where else did you use to be able to find magnets of Leslie in holiday finery? Who else would turn the third floor into an Egyptian temple for one of their literary camps? And who would throw a “Keep Austen Weird” Prom in the middle of a Saturday? That’s right. BookPeople.
In order to celebrate the release of beloved local author Jennifer Ziegler’s new book, Sass & Serendipity, we will be hosting a prom complete with punch, prizes, and people in formal(ish) wear. Personally I plan to come dressed as if I was attending a southern tea (complete with gloves and pearls and dainty little hat if I can find one) but that’s just my contribution to the weird.
Besides the party fun, Jennifer is going to be interviewed by her real live sister, and we’ll be doing a traditional (well BookPeople traditional) book signing.
The festivities commence at 2 PM on this Saturday on the second floor of BookPeople. For more information, see here.
And if you are a teen between 13-18, our Not Just Another Teen Book Club will be meeting on the third floor at 1:30 to discuss the book and get ready for the party. See you there!
Some of our guests at our last (Gothic) prom a while back:
Ha, ha, rock on! Someday I need to stop by in Austin and see your book store that I read about so much.
