Author and illustrator Jeff Crosby will be reading and signing copies of his brand, new book Wiener Wolf. This adorable new book tells the story of a domesticated dachshund with a fire in his belly to leave the comforts of suburban living and join a wolf pack — to run wild & become a true WIENER WOLF!
The Central Texas Dachshund Rescue will be here handing out information on how you can adopt a darling dachshund yourself – and will be bringing one of those darling dachshunds for us to meet! The fun doesn’t end there, though! We’ll have delicious hot dogs from Frank, a local restaurant specializing in all things hot dog. PLUS, crafts and even cupcakes!
The BookPeople Alligator Society
Check out our brand new nature club for young explorers!
Inspired by Me … Jane, Patrick McDonnell’s wonderful book about Jane Goodall’s lifelong quest to understand the natural world, we are launching a club this summer for budding explorers ages 5-8 (and their stuffed companions). Taking our name from Goodall’s playfully named childhood nature society, BookPeople is officially launching its own Alligator Society.
Armed with our nature journals, we will be meeting at BookPeople every Wednesday morning in July at 10:30 A.M. to see what we can see. Registration is only $60 for all four sessions and includes a copy of Me…Jane as well as a brand new nature journal.

And then, to top it all off, Harry Potter is back! That’s right, our favorite wand-wielding teen’s last movie will be coming out on July 15. Of course all of us here in BookKids will be at a midnight showing (cloaks optional). However, if you aren’t yet in the Harry Potter mood, here’s a preview of the movie to get you there.
