When you are young, summer is the best part of the year. There’s no school, no homework, no bossy teachers. Days are spent at camp, swimming in the pool, or lazing around the house watching TV and playing video games.
I envy the youth this summer, and not just because they don’t seem to find the Texas heat debilitating. No, I envy them all of the free time they’ll have this summer to read all of the fantastic kid books that have come out and will come out this summer. Sadly, the bookstore doesn’t shut down for summer vacation, so shelving and blogging on the BookPeople Kid’s Blog doesn’t stop just because the temperature reaches 114. But that’s not going to stop me from reading as many books on our BookPeople Kids Summer Reading List.
Now, the Summer Reading List is part of the BookPeople Kids eNewsletter that we send out every month. This summer, we’ll be sending a list of 10 new books every other week that are recommendations for kids of varying ages. To see the one we sent out this week, click here. We’ll also have fliers in the store that will show you our latest recommendations. You can also go to the BookPeople Kid’s Blog to see the books broken down by age. (The links are in the drop down menu at the top.) But, if you would like the latest, the greatest new Summer kid book recommendations the moment we give them out, you’ll want to subscribe to our Kids eNewsletter. That’s where all the action is.
