Just a few days until Christmas! After you set out the milk and cookies for that lovable home intruder, gather the family together and read a holiday storybook. Here’s four classic favorites suggested by our Kids Books Buyer, Meghan Goel:
Twas the Night Before Christmas, illustrated by Chris Wormell
The Night Before Christmas, illustrated by Niroot Puttapipat
How the Grinch Stole Christmas, by Dr. Seuss
The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg

I’d add Morris’s Disappearing Bag by Rosemary Wells. Also Grimble at Christmas, by Clement Freud, but unfortunately it’s out of print. A Child’s Christmas in Wales, by Dylan Thomas, is also a tradition in my family.
The Polar Express makes me cry, but that’s probably just because I’m a grownup.
I love the “Polar Express” and in fact purchased that book for my son for Christmas, along with Elizabeth A. Hoadley’s great book on sharing and having compassion toward the hungry and the homeless titled, “The Thanksgiving Coat: Illustrated by Kailee.”
