Jen Yates, champion blogger and author of the new book Cake Wrecks: When Professional Cakes Go Hilariously Wrong, will be at BookPeople on Sunday, October 4th at 3pm. Yates and her husband John will sign copies of the book, answer questions about the blogger-lifestyle and discuss the allure of these confectionery calamities.
Yates’ blog, CakeWrecks.com, documents the most hilarious and head-scratching pastry disasters caught on camera. According to her website, a cake wreck is “any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate – you name it. A ‘Wreck’ is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it’s simply one I find funny, for any number of reasons.”
There will be delicious, non-wrecked cake at the event provided by Coco Paloma Desserts and Wicked Cakes. Also, attendees are invited to bring their own miniature cake wrecks (in cupcake form) to the event and enter them into a contest judged by Yates.

EDIT: Unfortunately, this event had to be canceled due to sudden illness. Please keep checking this blog and the BookPeople event calendar for possible rescheduling dates. Thanks.
