There are many reasons to love Joe Hill and get ready to add another to your list.  He’s started the “Love Your Indie” Contest!

Now, I’m sure all of you love your indie bookstore a lot.  Share that love with Joe Hill and you might just win a signed, slip-cased copy of his hard-to-get-a-hold-of new book Gunpowder.

The contest is very easy.  Go to your favorite (ahem, BookPeople) indie bookstore and buy something.  Save your receipt.  Scan it or take a picture of it.  Send it to Joe Hill (indie@joehillfiction.com).  He will randomly choose 1 winner at the end of the month.

Now there are some (hilarious) rules, so make sure you read them – but have fun shopping and showing how much you love your indie!

I'm the Marketing Director for BookPeople, and I love my job. I book different authors to come to the store, talk to publishers about why BookPeople is the greatest independent bookstore ever, and I also work hard at making sure you, the public, love BookPeople as much as I love BookPeople. The best part is getting to meet amazing authors, like Pres. Jimmy Carter, David Sedaris or Ron Jeremy*. My favorite books seem to vary wildly. I cannot understate how much I love Mr. Darcy, and Pride and Prejudice has been reread many times. Also, I have Harry Potter lightning bolts tattooed on my feet, and I truly feel like I should have played Hermione in the movies (even though I'm about 10 years too old). Some recent favorites are: The Story of Forgetting by Stefan Block, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly and Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Also, I have a sweet hubby and super cute son named Lucas. It is widely agreed-upon (by me and my family) that Lucas is the most adorable baby ever born. *Seriously though, Ron Jeremy wore sweatpants to the store and talked nonstop about famous people who are his "friends." It was a hilarious and magical evening, and he left with a girl named Bambi. I'm not making any of this up.
