He taught journalism at Stanford University and the University of Texas at Austin, where he directed the School of Journalism. He won the National Jewish Book Award and was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. He is the New York Times–bestselling author of The Searchers and High Noon, and he lives in Arlington, Virginia.
