How long have you worked at BookPeople?

G: One year!

What is your favorite part about working here?

G: When I recommend a treasured favorite book and a customer’s eyes light up as I describe it.

What five fictional characters would you invite to a dinner party?

G: Steve Rogers, June from Red, White & Royal Blue, Sid from The Midnight Lie, Gideon the ninth (for comic relief), and Escargot (TO CHAT WITH, NOT TO EAT. We’ll have salads with no carrots for him).

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

G: According to me, a dog. According to anyone who knows me and my introverted nature, an outdoor cat.

What book will you continue to reread throughout your life?

G: This is so out of left field, but Hollywood’s Dark Star. It’s a biography about Heath Ledger. I admired him so much growing up. The book is covered in incredible quotes that remain mantras in my day to day life. Something about the way he viewed the world just really clicked with me.

What’s your favorite literary quote?

G: “It’s no use going back to yesterday because I was a different person then.” Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

What’s something that’s guaranteed to make you laugh?

G: The Watcher YouTube channel. There’s just something about them…

Who’s the most exciting person you’ve met through BookPeople?

G: Malinda Lo!!! Digitally though (for now). She saw my blog post about Ash and sent me her unreleased manuscript! I’m still in awe!

What would be your first buy if you won the lottery?

G: Travel plans! I want to go everywhere.

You have a time machine and one week to spend in any historical era. Where/when would you go?

G: I’ve read/watched too much time travel content to think that’s a good idea lol. Maybe I’d go way back to when language was starting to develop! It’d be so cool to see the beginnings of communication and words.

What are you watching on Netflix right now?

G: The Untamed!!!!! A queer Chinese drama!!! A trailblazer! Battle boyfriends! Flutes! The Tortoise of Slaughter!

Who would you like to be cast as you in a movie about yourself?

G: I don’t care as long as they have curly hair and a sarcastic tone haha.

What was your favorite book as a child? What is your favorite book right now?

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke! My favorite read lately is Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo, which you can pre-order right now and yell in excitement with me on its pub day!
